Judy Kay,
Course Director
| I have a strong commitment to ongoing education. Why? It deepens
divers enjoyment of snorkeling and diving. I have several Distinctive
Specialty Courses focused on the beauty of the underwater world. They
pick up where the standard AWARE specialties leave off. Consider
separating yourself from the pack to potential employers with these
under your belt. In today’s competitive market place all dive operations
are looking for ways to differentiate themselves from the masses. |
 |
As a prospective employee you need to do the same thing. Make yourself more
valuable by making yourself more versatile. Prepare yourself to teach key
specialties and as many specialties as possible, prepare yourself to teach DAN
classes and EFR classes. All of these offer crucial continuing education for
divers. You need to be prepared to teach them. In diving, all of us need to
focus on training divers not simply certifying tourists.
During the Instructor Development Class you will learn the basics of how to
teach scuba diving to a typical athletic sports enthusiast. You will also get
guidance on how to work with the not so typical anxious individual who wants to
explore this underwater world of ours or is being dragged along by a significant
person in their life. Additionally you will also get training in selling
techniques that will increase your value to any prospective employer.
When you have the opportunity to dive with me you will find that I do not
subscribe to the philosophy of diving 60 for 40 in a ‘nose to butt’ line behind
the dive master/leader. My goal is to dive safely yet extract every ounce of
enjoyment possible out of every dive. My ultimate goal is to help you help
others do the same.
